Kecskemétfilm Kft. - Kecskemét Animation Film Studio
The roots of animated film making in Kecskemét go back to 1929. The Studio was founded in 1971 and it became one of the leading studios in Hungary. More than 250 films have been created here, and they won more than 50 awards. Besides animation films artistic short films, series, teaching and advertising films are made here. "Vízipók-Csodapók" was their greatest success which was broadcasted in 45 countries. The legendary series of "Hungarian Folk Tales" is now the "trademark" of the Studio.
The artists worked in numerous great international productions such as the Spanish "Chico & Rita", the Irish "The Secret of Kells" that was nominated for Oscar Prize, the French "Loulou the incredible secret" that won at 39th César Awards Ceremony for the prize of best animiation film.
In 2011 Ferenc Mikulás and Kecskemét Animation Film Studio were honoured with the Hungarian Heritage Award.
The Studio is the organiser of KAFF - Kecskemét Animation Film Festival that is organised biannually since 1985.
Visiting the Studio:
The Studio can be visited after booking in advance in groups of at least 5 people, on weekdays 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The program consists of an introduction of the Studio and animation filmmaking then watching a film. There is an opportunity to have an insight into the 3D workshop and working rooms as well.
